An ideal set-up configurator for music lovers by Arturia

My team and I, we worked with the Arturia team on a strategic service positioning for music lovers, helping them overcome the novice’s block with the right music set-up, made in France.

The challenge

Arturia, a french manufacturer of digital and electronic musical instruments, has one great advantage - they product high quality instruments at a very interesting price. They are the perfect brand for music production novices and ones who start to gain skill. However, they somehow did not seem to be able to retain novices as clients because of the difficult learning path.

As real music-lover, I was delighted to propose and work on how to embark novices in music creation by improving their user experience with a music instrument. We went on the field and gathered information on why novices stop learning. We identified the key moments in the learning process, and those where Arturia could have the most added value.

From all that was born the music set-up configurator, a strategic service positioning for Arturia, which as as a goal to accompany musicians in their creativity journey.

My role

I worked as a Service designer and product manager for this product concept I led the entire discovery phase, structuring the research (interviews, field work and bench) and the ideation workshops. I worked with another designer on the prototype definition and development and constructed the product roadmap and OKRs.

What happened next

The work presented here was completed just about a week before the COVID19 confinement in France, and therefore the development was frozen. Due to financial reasons following the pandemic, the configurator project was stopped.
